However in 2004 i bought a nice green verona saloon 1.8 td N reg for £700. it lasted for 4 months, i went to Stevenage one day in Dec 04 (160miles round trip) and on way back because i was doing 80 to 90 ish, the cam belt gave way due to the tensioner plastic breaking 30 miles from home, and had to be rescued by my recovery driver friend. the cambelt change would be 36-40k miles based on previous experience,but the dealer is adamant that the interval is 100k andis very reluctant to renew the cambelt as part of theservice.Obviously Fords official line is 100k/10 years I have had similar experience in that: I bought 1999 a 2.0 petrol Focus and was concerned about a cam belt change.
