🌞 Ford Focus 1.6 Tdci Starting Problem

Hi new member here so go easy I've plunged into getting rid of my old fiesta and getting a MK2 ford focus 55 plate the car is in mint condition all titanium Interior 82000 miles but bought it cheap as egr was faulty. Hi all, I have a 2005 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI which an intermittent hard to start problem. When the problem is occurring, the engine will turn over and begin to fire but then suddenly drops off without starting. It will turn over a few more times without any sign of firing before repeating the previous. Eventually it will start. I'd also lean towards the alternator as a starting point. As @TomsFocus states above, check the wiring to it as well as the connector/plus can get corroded. The SmartCharge system can push the better part of 18 volts through the battery, so if the sensor/smartcharge cable or connector isn't working properly the alternator could be frying your nice shiny new battery. Problem - when engine was hot, the starter motor seemed to be stuck. As almost above, starts one Definitely sounds like a fuel pressure problem. and diagnostics will give an indication of where to start. 1.8 TDCI Mk2 Focus Ford Year: 2006 UK/Ireland I have a Focus Estate MK2 1.6 TDCi, and recently it's developed a fault where after taking engine revs over around 2000rpm, and then depressing the clutch to change gear, the engine will stall. It can go a little over 2000, but not much. When it stalls, the engine restarts, but it has to turn over a few times before it will fire again. .
